Freelance Photography Curriculum Vitae
Profile
I am an experienced and versatile London-based photographer. My primary professional expertise is in the use of Large Format Cameras (both digital and film) for architectural photography. In my work in this field, I have specialised in verified planning and marketing photography. I also have extensive experience of working with medium format and 35mm camera systems (including stop-frame and time-lapse photography).
For the last six years I have been principal photographer at GMJ and have worked on many major architectural projects, including: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; the Unilever Building; King’s Cross Re-development; Wembley Stadium; and the Gazprom Headquarters, St. Petersburg. I have had the opportunity to work closely with a wide-ranging set of clients, and to envision and achieve exciting and unique views of their buildings. This has often required me to photograph from helicopters, cranes and cherry pickers; I am extremely comfortable with heights and am motivated to go to any reasonable length to get the exact image the client needs. I have also been regularly required to work from building sites, so am competent with PPE and standard site safety.
My initial photographic education took place at Glasgow School of Art; post-graduation, my training continued at Chelsea College of Art. I have been nominated for many prizes (including Becks’ Futures and the Jerwood Photography Platform); shortlisted for the London International Creative Competition in 2007; and have several times been the recipient of Arts Council funding for solo photographic exhibitions. I’m readily able to understand and respond to the needs of clients; I work well to deadlines; am extremely reliable; and have excellent communication skills. I have a broad competence in the field: I taught GCSE and A-Level photography shortly after graduating. I am currently available for photographic projects, in architectural and other areas, requiring a combination of detailed technical expertise and high-level but practical aesthetic awareness.
